Center all your layers!

Centering all your Layers:
1.
In this example I have three parts. All on their own layer.

1. The Background layer

2. The Red Square

3. The Blue Circle

Now the problem is they are all over the place and I want them perfectly centered so they fit together. Here is how we can do that with photoshop 5.5 and up...

 2.
If you have all of your images made and you need them centered, make sure you have them all on separate layers. To use this tip it makes it much easier to have each image on it's own layer so it will be centered correctly. This is how I have my file set up for this example.

 3.
Now the next step is to select your background layer. This is the base that we want all of our images to be centered to. To select your background layer just click on it and it will turn blue to show you that it is selected. The next step is to link your images to the background file. To do this: Once you have your background layer selected click in the empty box directly to the right of the eye in your other layers. By default they are blank. Once you click in that area a little chain icon will appear (see the green highlighted box in the image to your left) to show you that your images are now linked. Important: Make sure you select your background layer and use that as the base or the images will "not" line up correctly. They need the background layer as the guide so they align to that and not another part of the image...

 4.
Now that your images are all linked to the background layer you can go ahead and start your centering process. Go to the file menu up top and select Layer/Align Linked/Vertical Center.
 5.
After the above step you file should now look like this.

 6.
Now go to the file menu again and select Layer/Align Linked/Horizontal Center.
 7.
That should do it. If all the steps above are followed all of your images should be perfectly centered to the background image now. You can also use the Layer/Align Linked to align your images on the background layer in any way you need, to the right, left, top, bottom, etc.
