Let's make some liquid looking chrome.

Making Liquid Metal:

1.
-Start by making a new 400x400 pixel image with a white background. -Click on your channels tab and create a new channel.

 2.
-Next use the add noise filter and use a setting of [Amount = 630 (400 in PS 6.0)], [Distribution = Uniform] and leave the Monochromatic "un" checked. -side note: Do all of these steps in your channels, not the layers...

 3.
-Now run the filter/texture/patchwork and use the settings I have. [Square Size = 8] and the [Relief = 0]

 4.
-Now go to filter/stylize/Glowing edges and use the settings that I used. [Edge width = 14], [Edge Brightness = 5], [Smoothness = 5]

 5.
-Now run the difference clouds filter TWO times and it should look similar to the graphic I put up on the left. -Now take that channel and drag it into the create new channel to "duplicate" the original channel. -Now on your "duplicate" channel hit Ctrl/I to "invert" the channel.
 6.
-Now run the filter/sketch/chrome and use the setting of [Detail = 2] and [Smoothness = 4]
 7.
-Now go to image/adjust/ and run the equalize setting. There are no settings to adjust here so just run the filter and your images should now look like mine...

 8.
-Click your Layers tab and create a new layer and fill that new layer with black. -Now Go back into your Channels tab, and Ctrl+Click the channel you have been working on to "activate" that channel. You should now have a scattered amount of the "marching ants". -Now go back to the new "layer" you just made and with the selection still "active" fill that area with white. Once you have it filled hit Ctrl+D to "deactivate" it.
Whew! Your done! Now you have a liquid chrome metal that is excellent for textures, bump maps, or even use it on your interfaces.
Here is mine with a hue/saturation adjustment layer on top of my original pic. To make an adjustment layer just Ctrl+Click on the new layer tab and select what type of adjustment layer you want to make...
